 Privacy Policy for Agent

Last Updated: October 26, 2023

This Privacy Policy describes how Agent ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your information when you use our mobile application. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Personal Information: We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the core features of the App.

b. Usage Data: When you search for information, the App sends your search queries to Wikipedia via its public API. To comply with Wikipedia's best practices, the App's request includes a "User-Agent" header identifying the App and a developer contact email. No personal user identifiers are sent with these requests.

c. Local Data: The App allows you to save Wikipedia articles as text notes. These notes are stored locally on your device's storage. We do not have access to these files, and they are not uploaded to our servers.

2. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:

Wikipedia API: Used to fetch educational content. Please refer to the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.

Google ML Kit (Translation): Used for on-device language translation. Google may collect diagnostic information and usage statistics to improve the service. Please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy.

3. Permissions We Request

INTERNET: Required to fetch information from Wikipedia and download translation models.

ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check if the device is connected to the internet before making requests.

READ/WRITE EXTERNAL STORAGE: Used only to save the notes you explicitly choose to download to your device.

4. Data Security

We value your trust. Since we do not collect personal data on our own servers, the security of your saved notes depends on your device's security. We encourage you to use device-level encryption and passwords.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately after they are posted.
